Our Family of Companies:
Nice Ice Baby Ice Cream
The Cat's Meow Salon and Spa
It all began back in 1995 when Tim and Sharon started dating while working together at the iconic Peter Pan Restaurant on Queen Street West in Toronto. While it wasn't exactly love at first sight (she tried to set him up with her roommate), the two soon got it figured out and realized they were perfect for each other. After a little persuasion Sharon got Tim to move from the big city to her home town of Belleville (he originally hails from Alberta) and shortly thereafter the pair opened Urban Herb Restaurant on Victoria Avenue. Five years and two babies later the two decided to close their award-winning restaurant (which was featured in the publication "Where to Eat in Canada") so that Sharon could fulfill her dream of opening her own hair salon (The Cat's Meow Salon and Spa) and Tim could focus on the more family-friendly catering business. They now work side-by-side at 20-24 Victoria Avenue in Belleville offering one- stop shopping to discerning brides with their wedding catering, salon and spa services. It's a perfect marriage of beauty and the feast!
Urban Herb Catering continues to operate as a full-service catering company for weddings, corporate events, private parties, festivals, fundraisers and community events and has recently expanded to include a gourmet food truck Urban Herb on the Curb and Our Nice Ice Baby Ice Cream Truck. We have the coolest duo to book for your next event! See our Food Truck page for more details. Don't be surprised if you see a couple of good-looking boys helping out with our events. We bred and trained Asher and Kayden just to serve you better!
Why is everyone named Herb? Our company t-shirts poke fun at the fact that when we had Urban Herb Restaurant people kept thinking Tim's name was Herb. They would constantly ask, "Are you Herb?" or "Who's Herb?" or say "Can I talk to Herb?". It was pretty hilarious so we decided if Tim could be Herb, just about anybody could be Herb. Our name actually has more to do with the culinary garden staple and our big city take on it and less to do with a dude named Herb. The point of the team shirts is that we're all really friendly and happy to help you in any way!
